Mirella C.
Private tutor in Canberra, Australia
Education
I completed year 12 at a top-performing IB/HSC girls' school in Sydney. I achieved 43 out of 45 on the IB, which is an equivalent of 99.70 on the ATAR. I achieved 7's on HL Economics, HL Chemistry, SL English Literature, and SL French B Continuers. I scored 6's in HL Biology and SL Mathematics. I am currently a Bachelor of Health Science student at the Australian National University. I earned High Distinctions in biology and chemistry subjects throughout my first year at university.
Experience
In 2018, I tutored five IB students from Canberra Girls Grammar School and Narrabundah College in a range of subjects, including HL Economics, HL Chemistry, Extended Essay, and Theory of Knowledge. I also tutored one student from Canberra Girls Grammar in BSSS Economics and Chemistry. Largely thanks to their hard work, these students received incredible results. Each IB student whom I tutored in HL Chemistry received a 7. Students whom I tutored in HL Economics also received a range of 7s and 6s. I am also up to date with all the IB courses as I have only recently undergone them myself. On a similar note, I have plenty of resources for students, including past exam papers, other question banks, and great textbooks. Moreover, I have not become out of touch with this content since I built a strong foundation during my first year at university. Overall, I am a hard-working tutor. I am willing to help my students over the phone or email at any hour of the day, even outside of the formal tutoring hours. I also am happy to mentor in the EE and TOK projects. From my own experience, I know how to ensure that all the content is covered, both with practice and notes. I work well with students in methodically and logically unpacking their weaknesses and strengths. I can communicate with and teach students, regardless of ability, interests, and personality. This has been aided through experience in tutoring young children in piano, which helped me develop a broader skill set than simply tutoring a small quantity of year 12 students. Getting through the IB is much more than just knowing the content. It is a combination of managing exam stress, covering all weak spots no matter how small, and reaching out for help when needed. Trust me, I don't know anyone who has gone through the IB without needing help and those who do best are often ones who receive tutoring, whether formal paid tutoring or informal tutoring from friends and teachers. Don't feel afraid to contact me and reach out for help, I'm able and would love to help you in your studies.
